Pirate and Pirate Pool Party, Favors, Games and Decor Round UpSo, it’s birthday season in our house again. From August to October, I have one birthday boy a month and I have the most fun planning their parties!  I have another post coming soon about how to plan a successful birthday party that is fun, but NOT chaotic!  The first step is planning out engaging activities.  So, after I do my favorite part (brainstorming and planning decor and favors), I look into what activities will go with our theme and are age appropriate.

For my middle son’s 6th birthday in August, he opted for a pirate themed pool party.  It was completely his idea, but he wants kids to “walk the plank” on the pool diving board! While I am working on the activities and other details, I have started researching decorations and favors from my favorite party websites!  I prefer pirate themes that aren’t quite so scary, so I specifically looked for items that are more kid friendly. My best finds were by far on the Birthday Express website.  Here were my favorites (affiliate links):
Black Telescope       Pirate Eye Patches     Pirate HookJumbo Treasure Map Cutout       Inflatable Pirate SwordInflatable Pirate Ship Cooler
Little Buccaneer Lunch Napkins        Red & White Stripes Tablecover     Pirates 9 oz. Cups           20" Parrot Assorted       Plastic Gold Coins Treasure Chest 12" Pinata Brown    Mini Pirate Buckets        Pirate Paddle BallWeathered Pirate Flag     Foam Pirate Child Hat        Paper Pirate Hats  Little Buccaneer Tattoos          Pirate Flag Food Picks    Pirate Ship Cake Pan           Pirate Ship Shaped Jumbo Foil Balloon

Those were my favorite decorations and favor ideas at first glance through all the reasonably priced websites.  I did find a couple of good activities and toys to give the kids something extra to do in the pool. My son was very excited about diving for treasure in the pool and riding on a shark.  Here are a couple of rafts that he liked on Amazon as well: (Don’t forget these are affiliate links.  See my affiliates policy here.

I have a little less than a month left to organize all my thoughts and research into an actual plan (the only way you can have a successful party, in my opinion is to have an actual plan in place!) Stay tuned for the games I plan to organize in the pool, the snacks we will have and how I will use the decor and favors to make this a successful (and fun) birthday party!  In the meantime, check out my Pirate Pool Party Pinterest board here
